Shayne Cheney

Shayne Cheney is the founder and owner of Florida Applied Films. Mr. Cheney has a long history in the automotive and RV aftermarket industry. In 1986 he started as an apprentice learning automotive aftermarkets, installing striping graphics and other cosmetic aftermarket accessories.

After many years of being tutored by some of the industry’s finest craftsmen, he decided to go out on his own in 2000, starting SMC Diversified Services, DBA Florida Applied Films. In 2003 he studied the RV Paint Protection Film Industry and in 2004 he proudly became Florida’s first Certified Diamond Shield Representative.

Always looking to stay ahead of the game he also became Certified with 3M Paint Protection Film in 2008. Over the last few years, he’s added two more accomplishments, being Certified with System X Ceramic Coatings in 2018 and in 2021 Florida Applied Films became an Authorized Service Center and Applicator for Dr. Color Chip paint repair. Having done headlight restoration for several years, Shayne upgraded his product offering in 2022 by taking on the Glasweld™ system for a longer lasting headlight finish. Shayne has resided in Florida since 1985 and is a proud family man.

Our Shop

Florida Applied Films is housed in 50′ x 80′ shop building with an adjacent production office. Our shop will easily accommodate 2 large coaches simultaneously in addition to our tools, scaffolding and work tables. We have a dual stage water treatment system feeding our spray bottles and hoses.
Many of our customers have appreciated the option of staying with their RV in our bays while work is being completed. We have 30 and 50 amp electric service and wi-fi in the bays. Our building is in a gated property with room to park your RVs before and after service is completed. We would be happy to have you stay with us while your coach is being spiffed up!
We are about 15 miles from downtown Tampa along I-4. There are many great attractions, shopping centers and restaurants in the area to keep you busy if you stay with your coach. There is plenty of mown grass for your canine companions to explore. We look forward to meeting you soon!
